Ingram Expands Global Footprint in the UK with New Facility

February 26, 2019

Milton Keynes, UK, Ingram Content Group (“Ingram”) announced it will open a brand-new 96,000 square foot distribution facility in Milton Keynes, UK. The site, which is located approximately two miles from the current Ingram-owned Lightning Source, UK facility, will enable Ingram to better integrate its book distribution services (via NBNi) with print-on-demand services (via Lightning Source).

Under the arrangement, NBNi, Ingram’s Plymouth-based global physical and digital book distributor, will move distribution operations to Milton Keynes. NBNi’s experienced client services, publisher services, IT and finance staff currently based in Plymouth will remain in Plymouth. A staged transition will begin in the latter half of 2019 and complete in early 2020, allowing the consolidation of all of Ingram’s UK-based book distribution services into one Ingram-owned location.

“This visionary distribution model supports our long-term strategic goals for the UK market. With seamless and integrated digital and physical distribution located close to the print-on-demand services provided by Ingram’s Lightning Source UK, we can offer powerful and unique distribution services to customers across the UK and Europe,” said Ingram SVP for Content Acquisition International and Managing Director of NBNi David Taylor.

The new facility will also allow Ingram to move its full-service sales and distribution business, Ingram Publisher Services International, into the same location beginning in early 2020.  IPS International currently uses Grantham Book Services to reach the UK and European markets.

“It has long been a goal of Ingram Publisher Services to have our own warehouse facility in the UK market,” said IPS International VP and General Manager Sabrina McCarthy.  “This move enables us to provide truly integrated sales and inventory reporting for the US, UK and European markets, and a higher level of service for our distribution clients.  It also provides NBNi with a stellar sales team lead by Bunmi Western in our London office.”
