NASHVILLE, TENN. September 7, 2017 – As Houston begins to rebuild after Hurricane Harvey, Ingram Content Group (“Ingram”) is committed to helping booksellers and libraries.
To address immediate needs, Ingram is aiding Houston booksellers and libraries through a donation to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (BINC) and to the Texas Library Association’s (TxLA) Harvey Disaster Relief for impacted libraries. In addition, Ingram’s retail division will be postponing invoices for their clients. Independent bookstores and Christian retail stores impacted by Harvey may contact their Ingram rep to learn more about the invoice assistance.
“In the wake of a natural disaster, it takes time for a community to rebuild physically, emotionally and, of course, financially,” said Shawn Morin, CEO, Ingram Content Group. “As one of the most expensive natural disasters in the USA, we are continuing to look for ways to help our booksellers, libraries and the community.”
Any bookseller in need of help should reach out to help@bincfoundation.org, and anyone wanting to help a bookseller recover from disaster can donate to Binc https://secure.donationpay.org/bincfoundation/. If you would like to donate to help libraries in need, please consider donating to TxLA’s Disaster Relief fund here.
Additionally, Aerio, Ingram’s sales and marketing tool that helps publishers, authors and booksellers market and sell online directly to consumers, has worked with Invention Arts to launch a website titled Books Against the Storm. From the site, you can purchase a book and 100 percent of the profit will be donated to one of three charities: Houston Humane Society, Houston Food Bank or the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. Aerio is waving transaction fees, so that the website can donate more to those impacted. Learn more about this effort here.
