BOSTON - VitalSource and LearnLaunch, a Boston-based organization dedicated to connecting, supporting, and investing in the education technology ecosystem, collaborate to bring new ideas and innovation to educational technology, ultimately improving a student’s learning experience. VitalSource, an industry leader in the creation and delivery of digital content, will provide support and mentoring to some of ed-tech’s most promising start ups.
“We have been informally working with LearnLaunch over the last few years, and we both believe in the power of corporations and start ups working together to solve problems, innovate and discover new ideas,” said Pep Carrera, VitalSource’s COO. “VitalSource is happy to share our experience and expertise with the start ups of LearnLaunch. Together, the potential impact we can have on the future of education is tremendous.”
LearnLaunch sees VitalSource as a company with a history of support for new ideas and one whose leadership in the marketplace can help boost the contributions of edtech start-ups globally.
“Our collaboration with VitalSource gives LearnLaunch another area of increased expertise within the edtech community,” said Liam Pisano, Managing Director of LearnLaunch. “Like LearnLaunch, VitalSource has a strong presence and is an avid supporter of edtech innovation in Boston and around the world. We’re happy to work with them to drive innovation in our classrooms, schools and universities.”
In addition to mentoring of start-ups, VitalSource will be involved in sessions at LearnLaunch’s community events and biannual Demo Day.
Rick Johnson, VitalSource’s VP of Product Strategy, sees the benefit of these types of collaborations for both an established company like VitalSource and to the start-up community.
“We have the ability to offer insights based on years of experience along with the world’s largest educational content catalog and platform,” said Johnson. “They bring fresh perspectives. Based on our capacity and their new ideas for the marketplace, these relationships are a win-win.”
Since opening an office in Boston in 2010, VitalSource has grown its presence in the city. The company now employs 65 in Boston (out of roughly 250 total employees).
